Home work 9

#1 Kelvin, fahrenheit,celsius.

#2 Thermal energy is related to heat because heat is the way thermal energy is transferred from matter to matter.

#3 When something has a high specific heat then it can absorb a great deal of thermal energy.

#4 An ice cube melts in your hand because the heat from your hand is making the ice melt.

#5 This depends on the objects chemical makeup.

#6 It works like  speedometer for particles

#7 The three measurements are the same because they each have a freezing point and a boiling point. But they are also different because the way they are used. Kelvin is used in space and Fahrenheit is used in measureing temp in the US. Celsius is used in most of Europe.

#13 A conductor is usual cool to the touch and an insulators aren't.

#14 I think it would be a better conductent because you use cooper in wiring so it would work as a pipe.

#15 I would do both but use a clear tent so that the heat of the fire would come through the tent and warm the inside of in and this is radiation.

#16 The temp. at which it is at for water its freezing temp. is 32 and boiling is 212 so at 32 it will turn into a solid and at 212 it will begin to become a gas.

#17 When a substance's termal energy increases then the object cold last longer and if its edible it will taste better. Ex farmers in Florida will spray water on their oranges before a frost and when the water freezes, when the change of state from water to ice occurs that energy is transferred to the orange so it keeps it ripe.

#20 You poke a hole in a potato because if you don't then the water thats in the potato will become steam and then the potato will blow up.

#21 Thermal energy is related to steam engines because when the heat of the fire will heat the water till the water becomes steam and this is how it works.
